Avaya Appoints Commtech as distributor for IP Office in Ireland
Dublin, Ireland, Monday, 26 March 2007…Avaya, a leading global provider of business communication applications, systems and services, has appointed Commtech as its distributor for the full SMB portfolio of Avaya communications products, including the IP Office range, in Ireland.
Commenting on at the Avaya/Commtech Partner Launch seminar in the Guinness Storehouse on Thursday, 15th March, John Sharpe, Country Manager, Avaya said: “Commtech’s strong reputation in the Irish marketplace as a value-added distributor is recognised by Avaya, and we will now partner with them to bring the benefits of our IP Office solution to Commtech’s resellers across the country. We believe the benefits of IP telephony are being increasingly understood by businesses of all sizes and there is a significant commercial opportunity to be explored by voice and data resellers in 2007 and beyond.”
Avaya IP Office is an intelligent communications solution specially designed to meet the communications challenges facing small and midsized businesses. It is highly modular scaling from 2 to 360 telephones to meet the needs of home offices, standalone businesses, and networked branch and head offices. Built on Avaya latest advancements in converged voice and data technology, small to midsized businesses can benefit from many of the advantages sophisticated communications deliver to their operations.
Avaya continues to release innovative communications solutions for Irish businesses of all sizes. Avaya’s IP Office Release 4.0 software and IP Office 500 communications server were launched in recent weeks, allowing channel partners to deepen their business relationship with the SME sector. SMEs are the backbone of the Irish economy, employing over 60% of the country’s workforce.
Commtech is the leading distributor of data, networking and IT security products in Ireland. Last year the company set up a new voice distribution division, as Justin Owens, managing director of Commtech explains: “With the ongoing convergence of voice and data, and leveraging our existing data & networking expertise, we made a strategic decision to include voice/communications products to our company’s product portfolio. Today small and medium sized businesses are demanding feature-rich communications solutions that were previously only available to the enterprise customer.”
“Historically, we have a very strong track record in working with data networks and IT infrastructure, including connectivity and remote access management. This core competency will allow us to add value to our reseller channel, especially for resellers from a traditional voice market.”
Commtech has already begun workshops and training for the Avaya IP Office range of products for its reseller channel and will be holding authorised training courses starting in April 2007.
“Partnering with Avaya is a perfect fit for our organisation,” said Owens. “One of our strategic objectives is to partner with recognized Tier 1 global brands and provide only best of breed of product for our reseller channel.”
