Dublin, Ireland, Monday, 23 July 2007…The National Concert Hall, NCH, has opted to use SonicWALL to provide unified threat management for the organisation, its networks; fixed and wireless, web servers and internet access for the 100 employees. The integrated solution was specified, designed and installed by Netforce.
Larry Doyle, managing director of Netforce explains the rationale behind the SonicWALL solution: “The NCH is embarking on a major initiative to provide more internet-based services to the general public. Online booking and information access are both proving very popular with increases in visitor traffic to the website in the order of 500percent. The NCH wanted to maintain and grow these services but also wanted to ensure that the best possible, most flexible and easily scalable solution was installed.
“SonicWALL is the only integrated solution available to tick all the boxes we needed for the complex and busy internet requirements for the NCH. Nothing gets past this solution,” he adds.
Replacing the ad hoc security requirements with SonicWALL has allowed Netforce to tie up all security issues. Currently all content that goes between the networks and the internet is now scanned for viruses. SonicWall effectively filters out all spyware, malware and viruses, protecting the webservers located within the NCH.
Doyle also installed SonicWALL email security which offers an efficient spam blocker. “Prior to the installation of this feature, approximately 800 spams a day were received between the 100 user accounts,” says Doyle. “This has now been cleaned up to practically zero.”
Aside from its excellent security features, SonicWALL also plays an important role is the business continuity planning for the NCH. Two ISPs have been contracted to support the NCH’s internet requirements; eircom and Digiweb. SonicWALL provides load balancing between the two ISPs, providing optimum service. However, it really comes into its own should one ISP fail, as it automatically switches all services from the failed ISP to the working service.
Netforce has also installed a dual wireless network: one for the corporate users and one for visitors. SonicWALL’s wireless network is far more secure than standard wireless operations and can provide virtual dual networks, which in reality are based on a single network. “The SonicWALL solution is very powerful,” concludes Doyle. “It can truly offer integrated threat management for the whole NCH IT infrastructure.”
