Cork, Ireland, June 01-- Qumas, the compliance software company, has upgraded its security firewall to the latest SonicWall protection.  The upgrade has been carried out by Jacc, a Cork based IT systems reseller and maintenance company. 

Rob O Longphuirt, Network manager for Qumas, explained that Qumas has been using SonicWall for four years with good results.  “However, we wanted to upgrade to the Pro 4060 to take advantage of the new features.

“In particular, we were keen to use the load balancing feature for multiple ISPs offered by the Pro 4060.  We have three providers:  Irish broadband for wireless; Strencom for a lease line; and EsatBT for ADSL; and all three need to be firewalled.”

The SonicWall upgrade was carried out by Jacc.  Padraig Conway, director of Jacc, commented:  “Qumas has a requirement for high availability of communications across its offices in Ireland and the US.  Many employees have home access and connect to their local officers via VPNs.  SonicWall also allows for an expanded bandwidth management system and more reliable VPN software.  Both these new features make it doubly attractive for Qumas to upgrade.”

In addition, Qumas is also in the process of installing a second Pro 4060 to provide a hot spare.  “We are very serious about our IT security,” concludes O Longphuirt.  “The new SonicWall Pro 4060 allows us to balance our requirements and increase performance while remaining secure.  It’s a very good solution.”
